Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are short, intensive programmes developed by groups of Higher Education Institutions with an innovative pedagogical approach, within Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ 2021–2027 programme.

BIPs feature a short physical mobility period combined with virtual learning and cooperation activities. They are open to joint groups of students, teaching staff, and administrative staff from at least three Higher Education Institutions holding an ECHE from three different Erasmus+ Programme Countries.

The virtual component is mandatory and aims to enable learners to work collectively and simultaneously on specific tasks integrated into the programme, which impact the overall learning outcomes through digital technologies. This allows the involved institutions to:

  • Improve their capacity to implement innovative teaching and learning methods.
  • Reach a wider group of learners from various backgrounds, fields, and study cycles, including students in discipline areas with limited mobility opportunities.

BIP can build on an existing programme updated in its delivery mode, or it can be entirely new, focusing on specific topics with added value compared to current university courses or training activities. The innovative format of BIPs is designed to support transnational and transdisciplinary curriculum development, innovative teaching and learning methods (including online collaboration), and research-based learning driven by a challenge-based approach tailored to contemporary issues.
