Quality assurance

The Departments are key actors in the University’s Quality Assurance System.

Within the framework of Quality Assurance processes, Departments prepare the following documents annually:

  • Departmental Development Plan — the Department’s strategic planning document, drawn up in line with the University Strategic Plan. The Plan has a three-year scope and is updated annually. It is integrated with the planning of academic and research staff and with the financial budget
  • Annual Monitoring and Review Report — a document for the analysis and self-assessment of the main activities carried out and results achieved during the reference year in the areas of teaching, research, knowledge dissemination, and resource management

These documents are prepared in accordance with the formats, procedures, and timelines established by specific acts and circulars issued by the University of Florence, in compliance with ANVUR requirements and the University’s Quality Assurance System.

The main bodies involved in the Department’s QA processes are the Director, the Department Council, the Steering and Self-Assessment Committee, and any delegates appointed for specific areas.

For the implementation of the QA processes for Degree Programs and Ph.D. Courses, the Department also relies on the work of the governing bodies of the respective programs and the Schools they participate in.
