The Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the University of Florence, in collaboration with the International Lyceum Club of Florence, has organized a meeting of particular scientific and cultural interest.
Yesterday, Wednesday, September 23, at 5:00 PM, at Palazzo Adami Lami, Professor Piero Olliarо, Visiting Professor of the Department, led the audience through the history of the plague, intertwining scientific knowledge, historical experience, and reflections on the epidemics of our time.
"The Plague: History and Science. Lessons from the Past to Understand Today's Epidemics" was an opportunity to understand how reading the past can offer valuable tools for interpreting the health challenges of the present.
Afterward, the Compagnia delle Seggiole presented "The (Un)credible Conversation between Marsilio Ficino and a Doctor in the Time of Covid and Beyond...", an original dialogue between history, medicine, and theater.
This event fully demonstrated the value of the intersection of universities, culture, and scientific dissemination, in the belief that knowledge is one of the most important tools for understanding the present and building the future.
