Taking place today, June 3, 2026, at the Aula Magna of the Careggi University Hospital (AOU Careggi), is the MPS MasterClass 2026 – “Pathophysiology of MPS: Beyond the Textbook”. This training event is dedicated to providing an in-depth exploration of the latest insights into the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS).
The event features the participation of leading specialists from both national and international centers. These experts have addressed the primary clinical and scientific aspects of MPS, ranging from diagnostic methodologies and newborn screening to multi-organ manifestations, emerging therapeutic strategies, and future research perspectives.
Special emphasis is placed on the multidisciplinary approach required to manage these rare and complex diseases, with sessions dedicated to cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), ophthalmological, and anesthesiological aspects.
This initiative represents an important opportunity for scientific updates and peer-to-peer exchange among professionals dedicated to research and patient care for rare diseases, fostering the sharing of experiences and clinical best practices.
The MasterClass underscores the ongoing commitment of the University of Florence and the AOU Careggi to promoting research, advanced training, and innovation within the fields of rare diseases and translational medicine.
