The 12th Florence Conference dedicated to patients with chronic myeloproliferative disorders was held in recent days at the Auditorium of the CTO in Florence, sponsored by the Careggi University Hospital and the University of Florence.
The event was organized by CRIMM — the Center for Research and Innovation in Myeloproliferative Diseases, headed by Prof. Paola Guglielmelli of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine at the University of Florence, which is part of the Departmental Organizational Structure of Hematology, directed by Prof. Alessandro Maria Vannucchi of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine at the University of Florence.
The Center is dedicated to clinical and preclinical research in the field of chronic myeloproliferative diseases, systemic mastocytosis, and acute myeloid leukemias, promoting technological and organizational innovation as well as management experimentation.
The event saw an extraordinary turnout: over 400 patients and family members, demonstrating just how eagerly anticipated and valuable these opportunities for information and discussion are. Topics of fundamental importance to those living with these conditions were addressed: from immunotherapy to clinical trials, from nutrition and lifestyle to the role of the dermatologist, and strategies for communicating with patients. The afternoon featured working groups and a session dedicated to questions for the experts.
This event underscores the commitment of the professionals at Careggi Hospital to supporting patients and their families not only through treatment but also by providing information and hope.
